About Me

Hi, I am Daniel Lengyel (叶乘浪) and am currently a fourth year PhD student at Imperial College London in the Department of Computing, supervised by Nicholas R. Jennings, Panos Parpas and Nikolas Kantas.

I am interested in systems involving interaction—such as the flocking behavior at the top of the page! Specifically, I am focused on investigating the mathematical descriptions and properties of such systems to allow for well motivated numerical and computational algorithms. Topics I have worked on include derivative free optimization, distributed optimization, interacting particle methods, and optimality of data for function approximation.

Prior to my PhD, I obtained my bachelor's degrees in math and computer science at UC Berkeley. There I spent significant time in the RISELab working on distributed optimization and model predictive control of HVAC systems; the goal being to reduce energy consumption of commercial buildings across California.
